Lucknow, August 1: Members of Lucknow Connection Worldwide (LCWW) visited Drishti Samajik Sansthan in Jankipuram Extension this week, bringing along a batch of everyday essentials for the children who live there — bedsheets, sanitary napkins, clothing for boys and girls, and a few other items the institution had asked for.
Admin Neerja Shukla and Admin Kailash Srivastava led the visit, along with members Vinod Srivastava, Sanjay Srivastava, Neeta Tekwani, Shashi Srivastava and Roopa Srivastava. The team didn’t just hand over the supplies and leave — they sat with the children for a while, asked about their studies and daily routine, and spent time encouraging them. What stayed with the group most, by their own account, was how confident and determined the kids were, many of them clearly focused on building independent lives for themselves.
The LCWW members were full of praise about the institution’s work, and promised to keep supporting it going forward.
Drishti Samajik Sansthan, run by Dhiresh Bahadur continues to walk the unbeaten track as it caters specifically to children who are both orphaned and differently-abled. They are looking after close to 265 children, providing them shelter, food, education, vocational training and medical care.
For LCWW, the visit reflects something the group has said before — that support for underprivileged and specially-abled children shouldn’t stop at sympathy, but should show up in things that actually help day to day. More initiatives like this one, they say, are already planned for the months ahead.
